Mechanical Team Member at Dalhousie Microtransat Autonomous Sailboat Team (DalMAST) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Who We are? We are a team of Dalhousie and University of New Brunswick students designing and building a sustainable, autonomous sailboat that will sail itself to Ireland as part of an international competition. Our History From 2015 to the Fall of 2018, the sailboat was managed by Dalhousie Faculty, including the previous Dean of Engineering, Dr. Leon. The most recent iteration of the vessel, the ‘Sea Leon', was launched in the Summer of 2018, with great success. It travelled for more than 3700km over 76 days before it ceased to transmit its location. In 2018, the responsibilities of the sailboat were transferred over to Dalhousie engineering students. Where We Are Now? We currently have a team of over 20 students broken into electrical, software, mechanical, and management sub-sections. We are also actively looking for new members! Our design teams meet weekly for design and fabrication work, and are in the process of constructing a vessel that we believe will not only outperform the past iteration, but likely complete the world wide challenge we are competing in!Contact UsEmail: dalmast@dal.ca
