• Mina Sahar Saffron is a Brooklyn-based woman-owned small business selling saffron, promoting its sustainable cultivation in Afghanistan, and connecting Afghan farmers to US markets. We have a mission to bring this jewel of spice to the global culinary market and make it accessible to all.• We are a social enterprise and give back to the farming communities. In Afghanistan, 80 percent of jobs are tied to agriculture, so by investing in the saffron industry, unrelated to poppy production, we are cultivating a more peaceful Afghanistan and financially empowering women, who are the primary harvesters. We strive to give back to the communities we work with and pledge to give 5 percent of our sales to grassroots aid in Afghanistan.• Our saffron, categorized as Super Negin, is graded as the highest quality in the world regarding color, taste, and aroma. This variety is the most potent; the threads are longer and trimmed symmetrically to remove yellow and orange, and it is a crimson ruby color. It is naturally Non-GMO, Non-Irradiated, and hands harvested from a sustainable farm co-op in the Herat region we have partnered with.• Currently, our two products are pure saffron threads and a Golden Saffron Latte blend. Our saffron is available for sale in quantities ranging from 1 gram to 5 kilos +.• We are proud to say that we supply some of the finest spice stores in the city, such as SOS Chefs, Essex Olive and Oil, and Dual Natural Spice. We are also on the shelves at specialty stores in our branding, including Dimes Market, Staubitz Market, Pushcart Presents, and Morning Glory Natural Foods in Maine.
