Los Lunas Schools, home to 15 schools and approximately 8,500 students, prides itself on an individualized and personalized approach to educating its students. Classes of instruction are relatively small; student support services are strong; and the curricular and co-curricular programs are diverse. The pursuit of academic excellence in this district reflects the deep belief that all students can learn and that all students deserve high quality instruction in the classroom. It also means that there are high academic expectations in terms of the basic literacies. The educational program is geared to encourage critical thinking and a love of learning. Los Lunas Schools is one of 63 school districts out of 27,000 nationwide that was accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) and achieved the distinguished classification of District Accreditation. We are still the only public school district in this state to achieve this standing. All other New Mexico schools that are accredited by NCA CASI use the less rigorous model for accreditation that does not bring in evaluators from out of state institutions.
