Upstart Kitchen seeks to answer the question: Can we help create a healthier eco-system in Sherman Park and Milwaukee for current and aspiring micro-level neighborhood-based food entrepreneurs? Upstart Kitchen will be a catalyst to increase the availability of local, healthy and affordable food products and food-related employment in the city of Milwaukee.Upstart Kitchen is a social enterprise that will operate in Sherman Park at 4323 N. Fond Du Lac Ave and is an initiative of PRISM Economic Development Corporation, an 501 c3 non-profit started by Parklawn Assembly of God Church.Upstart Kitchen will provide Milwaukee with a reliable, accessible, fully equipped commercial shared kitchen for current and aspiring entrepreneurs in the food service industry who will have the capacity to process high quality food products and to incubate and grow their businesses in and for the immediate community. In collaboration with other community organizations, Upstart Kitchen will provide mentoring coaching, training and teaching in the areas related specifically to the food industry as well as in the area of small business operations and entrepreneurship. UpStart Kitchen will open in summer, 2019
