One of 21 Planning District Commissions across the state of Virginia, and founded in 1973, the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission (RRRC), or Planning District 9, based in Culpeper, VA, serves the Counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, Rappahannock; and Towns of Culpeper, Gordonsville, Madison, Orange, Remington, Warrenton and Washington. Its primary function as a regional government entity, non-profit, and political subdivision of the state is to help facilitate enhanced planning coordination and cooperation among member jurisdictions, through the exchange of timely information, delivery of first-rate and cost-effective planning services, grantwriting and technical assistance, and monitoring and analysis of area trends.
