The Mission of the Something for Kelly Foundation is to advocate, educate, empower, raise awareness, and support all individuals and their loved ones to take control of their predisposition to eating disorders. Our central goal is to aid all individuals on the ED spectrum, with an emphasis on youths and vulnerable communities.Something for Kelly was founded to honor the memory of Kelly Burk Nobbe, who lost her battle with anorexia on August 7. 2009. It was founded by Kelly's aunt, Patti J. Geolat, Geolat Companies. Kelly's parents, Nancy and Randy Burk, and her former husband, Jared Nobbe, also serve on the board.Today, eating disorders occupy the same ground as alcoholism or breast cancer a few generations back. Awkward silence marks the subject. Without conversation, there is no light shed on the illness allowing stereotypes and myths to abound. Something for Kelly has adopted the phrase "Start a Conversation" with the goal of raising awareness about this epidemic that is reaching out to a younger audience each year.
