Legal Operations, broadly speaking, involves using people, process and technology to deliver legal services with greater predictability, fewer defects, and lower cost. Walmart's Legal Operations team is composed of 4 different areas: Data & Analytics, Outside Counsel Management, Diversity & Inclusion, and Training, Development & Communications. Data & Analytics: This legal team is responsible for making the legal department an efficient law-firm/business-component within the company. Outside Counsel Management: Outside Counsel Management ("OCM") works to identify appropriate candidates and select the best lawyers and law firms for Walmart's needs by RFPs and other qualitative-based techniques. The team currently manages all of the company's outside law firms in the United States and it is constantly looking for new ways to reduce legal costs while maintaining the highest quality law services for the company.
