Founded in 1991, its mission is to "assure every qualified Newark High School graduate the opportunity to pursue higher education." To fulfill this mission, the following objectives inform A Call to College programs and services: -to motivate and encourage students to graduate from high school and to pursue post-secondary education -to advise Newark City School students and their families about sources of financial aid for college -to provide need-based scholarships to qualified Newark High School graduates; -to increase awareness and understanding of the benefits of education beyond high school
