River Road Terminal is one of the largest independent commodity transfer and storage facilities on the upper pool of the Ohio River at Louisville. An industrial-commercial port located at River Mile 601, RRT is a privately owned subsidiary of The Buddeke Company. This third generation family business was established in 1902 as the Buddeke Coal Company, and has operated the terminal since 1975. RRT has experience handling virtually all types of dry and liquid cargo including steel, grain, salt, coke, coal, gypsum, fertilizer, lumber, oyster shells, sand, gravel, light aggregate, scrap, pig iron and mulch.
