Today, we work to build resilient communities by supporting people to overcome challenges, improve their lives and live as independently as possible. We do this in a manner of ways. We provide quality almshouse accommodation; we award funding support to individuals and charitable organisations; we engage directly with the local community through our Community Outreach Hubs. We are extremely fortunate to have an extensive residential and commercial property portfolio, which has been built up over the centuries. This portfolio is the backbone of St John’s, generating the vital funds that make all our other work possible. For example, we currently have four almshouses, providing more than 90 individual apartments. These have been thoughtfully re-modelled to make them fit for 21st century living, giving our residents state-of-the-art, quality accommodation. Importantly, our almshouse community supports and empowers one another to live as valued and independent members of society. Not only this, but our Community Outreach Service is host to a range of activities, workshops and classes, designed to exercise body and mind. Our timetable is designed to appeal to a wide cross-section of the community, with many able to take up interests and hobbies that they may not have had the opportunity to pursue in their earlier lives. Finally, St John’s Funding Support Programme provides financial assistance and practical support to individuals and charitable organisations across Bath and the surrounding area. We welcome applications from professional referrers on behalf of individuals and families who have reached a crisis point in their lives. We can provide up to £1,500 towards a wide-range of items and services. St John’s is committed to sharing best practice and evidencing the impact we, as an organisation, are having.
