Henan University of Engineering was founded in 2007 as authorized by the National Ministry of Education and Henan Provincial Government as a public college of higher education. With a total area of 440 acres, HNIE has three campuses (the head campus, the north campus and the south campus). The north campus is situated on Tongbai Road. The other two campuses (the head campus and the south campus) are located to the south of the city in the Longhu Development Zone of Xinzheng City. The construction area of the institute is over 600,000 square meters. Covering a much larger total area, the new campus is beautifully arranged and has all the teaching equipment and facilities of a modern university. HNIE now has more than 25,000 students. At present, HNIE consists of 16 bachelor degree programs and 59 programs for three year students. Through the endeavors of several generations, HNIE has developed into a comprehensive institute of engineering and management as its dominating disciplines and has additionally coordinated development of its humanities and social science offerings. The institute has successfully formed the academic disciplines of textile, electrical information, mechanics, environment safety, mining, business administration and the arts and so on. HNIE boasts an excellent faculty experienced in teaching, research and administration. Among the 960 faculty members, 56 are professors and 276 are associate professors, which account for 34.6% of the total teaching staff. Among the teachers, 520 have doctorate or masters degrees, totaling 54% of staff. The total cost of the teaching equipment is over 76 million Yuan. The library claims a collection of 1,450,000 books, 270,000 kinds of electronic books, 2500 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals and electronic database of more than 8 types. The institute provides a total of 128 laboratory schools and 165 out-of-school internship training bases to the students.
