The Farmory is transforming a vacant armory into a sustainable, year-round indoor aquaponics farm and percid hatchery where local growers and community members contribute to the local food economy. The Farmory aims to support and empower our neighbors and community members by growing good food, as well as job and entrepreneurial opportunities. Envision Our Future: With 50 indoor soil-based aquaponics systems, each of them 4-5 levels high, we will be able to produce 173,000 pounds of mixed salad greens in a single year! Our hatchery will spawn 300,000 yellow perch and approximately 42,000 of those will grow to adult size in our aquaponics systems that involve fish and plants sharing water. Our yellow perch and produce will be available for sale to the public in various locations; local restaurants, schools, and health care institutions. The proceeds from these sales will fund Farmory operations throughout the year!We are currently $1 Million into our capital campaign of $3.4 Million. This will allow us to renovate our historical armory building, build 50 aquaponics systems, and install a bio-secure yellow perch hatchery. Even though we don't have our building completely renovated, our team of 60+ volunteers are still working hard to achieve our mission! We have delivered educational workshops, offered tours and field trips to the community, and are inspiring more and more people to begin growing their own food. West De Pere High School was the first school to receive our 2.0 system and consulting services to train their staff and students in how to operate it and incorporate it into their curriculum and school meals. Join our food revolution and help us grow a sustainable food system here in Green Bay, Wisconsin!
