Who We Are:Charlotte Family Housing (CFH) is a shelter-to-housing program for working families experiencing homelessness. Founded in 2011, the organization was formed from three agencies who combined their expertise and resources to address the needs of working families experiencing homelessness. They included Charlotte Emergency Housing, Family Promise of Charlotte, and the Workforce Initiative for Supportive Housing - W.I.S.H.Our mission is to empower working families to achieve life-long self-sufficiency through shelter, housing, supportive services, and advocacy.Who We ServeWe serve families with children. We serve hardworking moms and dads who fill critical roles such as cashiers, bank tellers, teachers, daycare attendants, food service workers, bus drivers, and home health care providers. Our families--our clients, are often suffering in silence under tremendous financial stress. We serve the invisible.Compensated with low wages and often spending more than 50% of their income on rent, many of our families have experienced a crisis such as an abusive situation, unexpected loss of income, a family breakup, a reduction in work hours that has sent them spiraling into homelessness. What We DoWe employ an empowerment-driven model that is designed to produce healthy, measurable and lasting outcomes. By implementing three key strategies - housing, partnership, and counseling and empowering tools, we promote personal accountability and decreased dependency with a focus on dignity, self-esteem and long-term success.
