FOCOS (The Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine) is a non-profit organization founded in 1998 by Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei. The mission of FOCOS is to provide optimum orthopedic care and improve quality of life in Ghana, Ethiopia, and other countries. With the indispensable assistance of over 4,000 donors who have contributed in excess of $16 million to date, FOCOS has evaluated thousands of patients from different parts of Africa and performed over 1,100 corrective orthopedic and joint procedures for adult and pediatric populations. The donations have also helped to build a 50 bed dedicated FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital in Ghana which opened in April 2012. The FOCOS Hospital's mission is to provide comprehensive orthopedic services including diagnostics, imaging and laboratory, outpatient consultation and surgical care to adult and pediatric populations in Africa. FOCOS aspires to become the premier orthopedic teaching hospital in the sub Saharan Africa. FOCOS is supported by a New York City based fund raising and administrative office located at 226 East 54 Street, Suite 306, New York, NY 10022. Together with the FOCOS Ghana staff of over 140 full and part time employees, FOCOS has provide life changing treatment to thousands of individuals.
