YES' mission is to serve homeless and at-risk youth by providing critically-needed resources which empower them to become self-sufficient. YES works to meet the immediate needs of youth in crisis, while offering training and resources necessary to help them reach their full potential and keep them off the streets for good. YES offers a continuum of care for at-risk youth through five major programs, including a Street Outreach Program, an Emergency Shelter, a Transitional Living Program, a Maternity Home and a Mentoring Program.YES is the only agency in Omaha which focuses directly on the needs of homeless and at-risk youth. YES served more than 1,000 youth in 2012-13 and the need continues to grow each year. Since May 2012, YES has averaged 35 new youth each month at the Street Outreach Center alone. Each of YES' programs works to prevent homelessness in its own way. YES' Street Outreach Program and Emergency Shelter focus on short-term, immediate needs, such as food, clothing, safety and shelter. YES' Transitional Living Program, Maternity Home and Mentoring Program tackle intermediate and long-term needs, such as workforce development, education assistance, financial literacy and housing assistance. The comprehensive goal of all of YES' programs is to break the cycle of homelessness before these youth fall into the cycle as adults.
