The Fred Hollows Foundation is inspired by the work of the late Professor Fred Hollows (1929-1993). Working in around 22 countries, our vision is for a world where no one is needlessly blind, and Indigenous Australians enjoy the same health and life expectancy as other Australians. The Foundation is determined to be a key global player in ending avoidable blindness by 2020. In 2017, The Fred Hollows Foundation supported more eye operations and treatments and trained more surgeons, nurses and health workers than ever before. These results highlight what we can achieve with your generous support.• Performed eye operations and treatments on1,106,654people• Supported training for 102,356 medical and support staff• Provided $3,534,755 of medical equipment and Infrastructure• Built or upgraded 66 eye health facilities• Treated 8.4 Million people with Antibiotics for TrachomaFred believed local people were best placed to deliver health care to their communities. The Foundation seeks to strengthen and sustain local systems, both internationally and in our Indigenous Program.
