We are responsible for planning and buying health services in the area to meet patients' needs. This is known as ‘commissioning'.We are led by family doctors (GPs) and currently serve a population of around 325,000 people across the Fylde Coast. This includes the towns of Blackpool, Fleetwood, Kirkham, Lytham St Annes, Poulton-le-Fylde, Thornton, Garstang, Great Eccleston and a significant number of rural villages. We receive a set amount of money from the Government, and from this we plan and buy hospital and community health services. We must, by law, make sure these services are high quality, and spend your money wisely.
