The Brian Ború is a traditional ketch, a type of sailing vessel 20m long, launched in 1961.At weekends we operate short trips (half day or full day) on Dublin Bay and other ports & harbours on the East and South coasts of Ireland.During the week, the core focus of Brian Ború is youth development under sail. This will involve bringing young people to sea on 5 day voyages, living aboard as members of the "Trainee Crew" and learning to operate every aspect of the vessel. It is an incredibly effective educational tool and our vessel is the ideal environment.Brian Ború is also an ideal platform for marine environmental and scientific research. The vessel is licensed by Dept of Transport to carry 12 passengers for day trips, for 10 trainees for longer sail training trips and for 10 scientists or researches on scientific voyages.
