Castello di Amorosa is an authentically styled 13th century Tuscan castle and winery in Napa Valley that produces a limited number of world-class wines all available exclusively at the winery. Surrounded by 31 acres in the foothills of the Diamond Mountain District just south of the town of Calistoga, Castello di Amorosa is the dream of fourth generation Italian American and pioneering Napa Valley vintner Dario Sattui. An architectural masterpiece featuring 107 rooms, 8,000 tons of hand-squared stones, 8 levels (four below ground), extensive caves, cellars, courtyards, a meticulously hand-painted Great Hall, drawbridge, moat, dungeon and torture chamber, and one of the most impressive wine barrel rooms in the United States constructed using ancient Roman cross-vaulting techniques. Yet the 136,000 square foot castle is mearly a backdrop to showcase some of Napa Valley's best wines. Castello di Amorosa produces only 35,000 cases each year, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and more. The Castello is open daily for tours and tastings, and its wines are sold exclusively direct to consumer.
