Barker Street is a superior quality, high volume, contract furniture manufacturer, based in Johannesburg South Africa. We manufacture corporate office furniture, hospitality furniture, as well as specialised furniture and bullet proof teller counters for the banking industry.Barker Street was founded in 1986, with the establishment of a sheet metal engineering factory. This factory, with its own automated powder coating plant, produces steel components for the office furniture industry. A decade later, the company expanded its capability and product offering by building a sophisticated and well-equipped woodworking factory manufacturing contract furniture. Soon thereafter, established an upholstery factory producing couches as well as partitions and screening systems. We currently operate out of 11000 square meters of commercial/industrial space.Today the Barker Street group is 60% black owned (30.7% black female owned) through the shareholding by the wholly black owned Brighton Capital investment company. Through the recent investment in the company, Barker Street is now also under new management.
