Each year, approximately 300 babies areabandoned by their parents in hospitalsthroughout Israel. These babies remainhospitalized in various departments,sometimes for many months without amother's loving hug. The unfortunatefact is that the care of the nurses anddoctors in the hospital is not able toextend past their responsibilities andduties. First Hug is the only associationthat is specifically designated to provideemotional care to these lonely andabandoned babies. The Association'svolunteers fill the vacuum that iscreated by the absence of parents andthey give the babies the human touch,the emotional treatment, the warmth,and the love that is so required fortheir development and recovery.
