High School Social Studies Teacher at Modern School Vasant Vihar - Houston, Texas, United States
Modern School (informally Modern) is a co-educational, independent, day and boarding school in New Delhi, India. It was founded in 1920 by Lala Raghubir Singh, a prominent Delhi-based businessman and philanthropist, who desired an institution that combined the "best of ancient Indian tradition with the needs of the times."[1] It was the first private and coeducational school established in Delhi during the British Raj. Our present can be traced back to 1920 when Lala Raghubir Singh at No.24 Daryaganj Delhi, founded the first Modern School. At a time when education was considered to be the privilege of only the rich, Lala ji envisioned a school that would provide exceptional educational opportunities to all students irrespective of caste, creed and social status. That dream, so far ahead of its time was planned at Daryaganj and now it has grown into three institutions - Lala Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School Humayun Road , Modern School Barakhamba Road & Modern School Vasant Vihar . All three are located in New Delhi. Modern School recognizes the individuality of each child. There is place here for the thinkers, the dreamers, the scholars, the artists, the craftspersons and the players. The magic of school life is indeed the amalgam of this phantasmagoria that unravels year after year, ever new and compelling.
