The ETP is a five-year, multi-donor partnership formed of governmental and philanthropic donor partners to support sustainable energy transition in Southeast Asia in line with the Paris Agreement, with an initial focus on Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines, to help the region achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNOPS serves as its fund manager and hosts its secretariat in Bangkok, Thailand. ETP aims to empower its partner countries to transition towards an energy system that simultaneously ensures environmental sustainability, economic growth and energy security. To achieve this goal, ETP will mobilize and coordinate the necessary technical and financial resources to create an enabling environment for renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable infrastructures in the region. The ETP works in partnership with the region's energy champions and institutions to promote urgency and bold measures to step up transition measures with a focus on four outcome areas: Outcome 1: Strengthened enabling policies Alignment of energy policy targets with climate change commitmentEnergy transition through dialogue and policies, regulations and lawOutcome 2: Increased investment for renewables Unlocking large-scale renewable energy investments by national and international financial institutionsIncreasing de-risking projects and making projects bankableOutcome 3: Extended smart grids Technical solutions for expanding smart grids, enabling evidence-based planning for national grid systems, and capacity building for grid operators Innovative financing models to leverage private capital through region's sovereign wealth fundsOutcome 4: Capacity and knowledge developmentDeveloping a knowledge platform for engaging and sharing views of market leaders and early innovators Building technical and technology expertise through education programmes Establishing state-of-the art centres of excellence or labs in partnership with local institutions on energy
