Logan Ruth SMA Foundation was created in honor of Logan Ruth, son of Brett & Tia Ruth, baby brother of Lucas. Logan was diagnosed in November of 2012 at 4.5 months of age. The nearest support group was over 100 miles away and social networking was the only way to connect with other families. He passed in May 2013 at 10 months of age. We are dedicated to spreading awareness about Spinal Muscular Atrophy, supporting newly diagnosed families, and the fight for a cure here in Southwest Missouri. Especially in areas with limited internet access!Facts about Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)- #1 genetic killer of children under 2 (80% do not reach their 1st birthday, 95% do not reach their 2nd)- 1 in 40 carry the recessive gene responsible- No treatment- No cure
