Unitas is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stoke-on-Trent City Council and delivers repairs and maintenance services to Stoke-on-Trent's 18,500 council homes and 600 public buildings.Unitas and the city council provide a wealth of employment opportunities across all local services, with a firm commitment to employing a growing number of apprentices. Unitas has been designed to offer an improved, more flexible service for tenants, and will ensure that property owned by the city council is maintained to a high standard.We carry out an average of 600 responsive repair jobs a day under a £42m annual budget, with plans to refurbish 1,500 void properties.Unitas employs more than 400 employees - a dedicated workforce of skilled trade operatives, including gas and electrical engineers, joiners, plumbers, plasterers, painters and bricklayers.They are supported by operational team leaders and managers, finance and HR officers, resource controllers, compliance and customer service teams, health and safety specialists, project and site managers, quantity and property surveyors to name but a few, who ensure we provide the most efficient service to our customers. All apprentices are supported by an experienced mentor, to enable maximised learning, development and experience within the role. Staff and teams at Unitas are experts within their field and offer a professional, supportive and responsive working environment. We are keen to maximise the potential of all staff in order to meet housing needs and drive forward the city's economic growth. In addition, dozens of local businesses supply us with the goods and services such as plastering, plumbing, joinery and bricklaying, after successfully bidding for work. We've created three separate frameworks - labour only, planned works and specialist work - and companies large and small have shown they are keen to be a part of Unitas, with many saying they want to take on more workers and provide apprenticeships.
