Lilypad is establishing legislation, financing and educational programs to accelerate the development of this housing model that makes both renting and owning a home in California more affordable. It sponsored a bill for Junior Accessory Dwelling Unit (JADU), authored by Assm. Tony Thurmond that passed overwhelmingly into state law in 2016, making the conversion of bedrooms easily and inexpensively permitted. A template model ordinance is available through the organization.
