EVERYBODY WINS! is a national non-profit organization devoted to increasing children's prospects for success in school and in life through one-to-one reading experiences. Founded in New York City by Arthur Tannenbaum in 1991, Everybody Wins! provides "reading partners" for elementary school through our Power Lunch program. EVERYBODY WINS!' success was honored by the U.S. Congress in the form of a $1 million grant through the U.S. Department of Education. The grant is being used to expand existing EVERYBODY WINS!' affiliates and to develop new ones throughout the country.EVERYBODY WINS! Los Angeles began in 2000 as a small program in the Pico Union section of Los Angeles. In 2003, we began to experience growth as we added Corporate Partners and schools to our program.Children Win as they discover the joy of reading and begin to explore new horizons.Volunteers Win by enjoying meaningful and rewarding experiences and the satisfaction of knowing they are making a positive impact on the life of a young child.Companies and Organizations Win as EVERYBODY WINS! takes complete responsibility for managing a volunteer program for them, making it possible for their employees to experience the joy of volunteering.Educators Win by having a fresh resource in their efforts to help their students. Teachers say that Power Lunch readers become more interested in reading and more receptive to learning. The children tend to exhibit higher self-esteem and confidence in class participation.
