SDI Bhubaneswar is country's most promising Skill Academy promoted by Oil PSUs and managed by IOCL under MOP&NG in the line with Government of India's Skill India mission.SDI runs Skill Training courses to unemployed and under privileged youth of Odisha in a small pilot campus in Manchester. This Institute is providing certificate program on Welding and Electrical – two trades having a high potential for employment. These two trades of Welders and Electricians are much in demand in the Industry. The course curriculum is aligned with National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) of Government of India and approved by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). SDI Bhubaneswar will impart not only class room training, but the emphasis will be mainly on practical training through the simulator and sophisticated equipment, training on soft skills (behavior, communication, grooming, etc), computer training and also knowledge of English. Each course will be followed by stringent assessment and certification process thus making each candidate job fit for the Industry. In addition, the institute will also provide entrepreneurship .The full-fledged main campus of SDI Bhubaneswar is planned to be a world-class state-of-the-art Institute and will focus on imparting skill training pertaining to the downstream petroleum sector and petrochemicals, in addition to other skills pertaining to various industries.State Government of Odisha has already approved for allocation of 60 acres of land, free of cost, for setting up of SDI Bhubaneswar (Main Campus). The Institute SDI is projected to impart skill development training to over 50,000 students in 26 trades pertaining to the hydrocarbon sector and local industry needs, over a period of 10 years from inception, apart from other employment-oriented training beyond the petroleum sector in line with National Skill Development Mission of Government of India.
