Inaugurated by Pt. Jawaralal Nehru on 17th November, 1960 as one of the first colleges of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, the college of agriculture is an integral part of the institution. It is an important pillar of the university and has contributed immensely to its role as 'the harbinger of Green Revolution'. The institute works under the 3 mandates of teaching, research and extension while time and again proving its worth as a pioneer institute in the field of agriculture. The QS World University Rankings of 2018 ranked G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology 118 among BRICS nations.In India, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked it 52 overall and 34 among universities in 2018.
