AKHAND JYOTI EYE HOSPITAL is Eastern India's largest eye hospital having done over 65,000 surgeries in 2012-13, of which more than 51,000 were free to the patient. The fast paced growth of the hospital matches it's vision of eradicating the huge backlog of curable blindness in Bihar by 2020. Compassion, innovation and professional management are key work ethics, while high standards of clinical quality and patient care ensure the delivery of high volume, high quality curative eye care services. The hospital provides services for cataract, medical & surgical retina, paediatrics, cornes, occuloplasty and has three centers - 300 bed tertiary center at village Mastichak (2 hours from Patna), and 50 bed secondary eye care centers at Patna and Siwan. The institution is mission and employee driven with an immediate goal to reach an annual surgical output level of 1,00,000 by 2015. Visionary management, top end equipments, standardized clinical protocols, strong administrative processes, employee friendly HR practices and an open, learning environment add strength to the hospital notwithstanding it's rural and non-profit background.Outreach is a core activity and the work is spread across 15 districts. The hospital intends to add more secondary eye care centers in the near future to fulfill it's vision and leverages it's strong goodwill in the community and a large, dedicated volunteer base to impart quality eye care services to the rural public.
