Bridges of Light is a foundation inspired by the children in our foster care system. Our focus is educating these children in hopes of furthering their education. Once they have "aged out" of the system, we are committed to doing what is necessary to support their success and accomplishments. In 2004, Stacey Papp and Lora DeLorenzo founded the Bridges of Light Foundation, with an objective to raise money that is distributed specifically for children who have been abandoned, abused or neglected. The funds raised go directly to helping these children further their education. These children are left to be cared for by the state, in hopes of being adopted by a foster care family who will love and protect them. But, in most cases, the children stay in these facilities until the age of 18. We feel that if we have done our job, these children become young men and women heading off to college to live a productive life with mentors who will continue to guide and help them succeed. For the children that do not go to college, we hire transitional specialist to guide them in doing such tasks as opening a bank account or simply applying for a job.
