The Women's Islamic Initiative in Spirituality and Equality (WISE) was established in 2006 as a faith-based grassroots social justice movement. In 2015, WISE became an independent organization and currently operates as a partner project under the Fund for the City of New York (FCNY), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Vision: WISE envisions a world in which Muslim women leaders forge a more peaceful and prosperous world anchored in gender equality and human dignity.Mission: We promote Muslim women as agents of change to ensure their participation at all levels of political, economic, religious, and social discourse. WISE publishes research and evidence-based reports to protect women's rights, promote religious pluralism, and enhance peacebuilding efforts. Our Approach: WISE address the consequences of persistent gender inequality by amplifying the perspectives of Muslim women in public policy debates. We collaborate across faith and gender lines, and in cooperation with leading advocates to create solutions to persistent patriarchal abuses of power and women's exploitation. We create localized, long-term solutions to end all forms of violence against women, especially forced and child marriage, female genital mutilation, domestic violence, and violent extremism.
