In 1658 there was a wedding between Norway's wealthiest heir, Karen Mowat and a poor but proud Danish nobleman. Karen Mowat and Ludvig Rosenkrantz were given the farm Hatteberg as a wedding present. They built their home here, and called it Rosendal. It was finished in 1665.Today Baroniet Rosendal is the smallest castle in Scandinavia featuring:Guided tours in the Manor from 1665. Concerts in The Red Room. Artexhibitions in the Winecellar. Theatre in the Courtyard. Home-made pastry in The Tea Room. The Old Kitchen and the Servant´s hall show working and living conditions for the manor´s servants. Exhibition of old carriages and boates. A 300 year old renaissance garden with roses in abundance. Romantic landscaped garden from 1850 with viewpoints overlooking the fjord, mountains and waterfalls. The tennant's farm Treo gives an impression of everyday life with farm animals and activities. Kitchen & Herbgarden with herbs, flowers, vegetables & fruits. The Chef at Baroniet Rosendal serves dinners with ingredients from the garden in The Blue Room at the Manor, or in Storakjøkenet at Avlsgården.
