Mangagoy Fishermen Multi–Purpose Cooperative (MAFISCO) was established on August 8, 1994, initially composed of 17 members who were mainly small fishermen dislocated and affected by the imposition of fishing regulations and local ordinances strictly implemented by the Local Government Unit (LGU). It was registered with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) on February 1, 1995 with registry No. 3547-DVO and was issued a new Certificate of Registration with No. 9520-13005809 under RA 9520 or the Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008 on January 7, 2010 with the purpose to promote Self – Reliance, Entrepreneurship and Innovation among its general membership. MAFISCO harnesses members' shared resources and utilize them to uplift their lives.Recognizing its role in fishery (tuna industry) value chain, MAFISCO, promotes the concept of value adding on its members fish catch by establishing a home grown tuna processing industry through the introduction and initial home based processing of Bottled Tuna which was started last November 2014 with the assistance from the Bislig LGU, BFAR, DTI and DOST.
