Founded in 1887, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) is a public, historically Black university that is part of the State University System of Florida. The Princeton Review named FAMU among its " Best Colleges: Region-by-Region" list. Latino Leaders Magazine named FAMU among the "Best Colleges and Universities for Latinos," and SmartAsset, a New York-based financial technology company, ranked FAMU the No. 2 "Best Value College" in Florida.The University has graduated more than 75,000 alumni and enrolls nearly 10,000 students hailing from across the United States and more than 70 countries.
