KNUDSEN, a small technology-driven firm located in Perth, Ontario, Canada, designs and manufactures sophisticated sonar instrumentation for wide range of marine and defense applications including hydrographic survey, dredging, sub-bottom profiling, deep oceanographic research, and more recently, naval fleet navigation. A familiar face to the industry for 3 decades, the Company is recognized for its pioneering use of digital signal processing (DSP), rugged innovative high performance products and dedicated customer support. Current product lines span a commercial line of single beam echosounders with hundreds of installations across the world and include the Sounder Series of standard bathymetric survey systems for hydrography and dredging, the Chirp Series for scientific and deep water survey/sub-bottom profiling, and the Pinger Series for shallow water sub-bottom profiling. In recent years, the Company product line expanded to include naval navigation with the introduction of the 320N Fathometer for navy fleet retrofit and new ship builds. Identified within the U.S. Navy as the UQN-10 and chosen as the U.S. Navy 'Next Generation Fathometer', KNUDSEN has delivered over 130 systems for use by the U.S Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Foreign Military Sales. Located in the beautiful historic town of Perth, Ontario, the Company's facilities are close to Ottawa, Canada's capital and also to the many nearby lakes and rivers that attract tourists, but also provide field and customer training sites for the Company. Incorporated in the early 80's by the husband and wife team of Don and Judith Knudsen, the Company has grown steadily over the years from an engineering driven R&D enterprise to a market leader within its specialized niche market, exporting over 90% of its production.
