Genetic Disease Investigators, LLC was formally began by a patient -- Diana Driscoll, OD. Struck down by a poorly understood condition that seemed to have no answers, she began formally researching this and related conditions.Dr Driscoll, formally disabled by Ehlers-Danlos syndrome/POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), was unresponsive to traditional, palliative treatments. When her children were then affected, including the completed disability of her young son, she created Genetic Disease Investigators, LLC and began formalized research. Using disability income as her source of funding and beginning with with intensive ocular evaluations, answers for this puzzling illness became apparent. Convinced that locating the genes responsible for these illnesses not only give the patient validity for their suffering, it can also invite opportunities for treatment. Now that she and her children have recovered, her research continues in the areas of autonomic dysfunction, high intracranial pressure, interstitial cystitis, chronic dry eye, and multiple sclerosis.
