Gordon Arnett bought his first bakery in Hull in 1940. After the war, he invested in a charming, double-fronted shop in Beverley which he ceremoniously named 'The Cake Shop'​.The business grew and the family went on to run a series of successful bakeries, finally selling the last of their production facilities to Finsbury Foods in 2008.That's when a new passion for teatime treats was born. Spotting an opportunity to bring something different to the market, the Arnett family acquired the Cartwright & Butler brand and a new era was born.Today, Cartwright & Butler is a £15 million brand that sells in over 40 countries worldwide.
