Radio Italiana 531, is owned and run by the Italian South Australian community, is a highly successful volunteer based Radio Station with the key role to inform and entertain those interested in Italian Music, Culture and Language, keep listeners informed about news and events in Italy and in Australia, make listeners aware of Italian/Australian community news and events and give all volunteers the opportunity to up-skill into media and entertainment. There were over 91,892 South Australians of Italian heritage recorded at the last census, 35,000 of which still speak Italian at home. There is a strong metropolitan listener base and the Radio Italiana 531 signal can be clearly heard in Adelaide, Port Pirie, Berri, Whyalla, Port Lincoln, Barossa Valley, Murray Bridge, Mount Gambier, Mildura and Renmark. Our listeners are very loyal, and very passionate about Radio Italiana 531 2015 will mark 40 years since Radio Italiana's first transmission from 5UV Adelaide, and will also be when we move into our brand new purpose built building at 73 Manton St Hindmarsh. This building will have several studios and modern equipment and will serve the South Australian Community for several generations to come.
