The Montgomery Township Board of Education, both as a state agency and as the elected representative body of the citizens of the Township on school matters, is legally responsible for education in this school district. The general mandatory powers and duties of the Board are defined in Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes. The Board functions only when in session. The nine members serve without pay for three-year terms.
