ATEL are at the forefront of Universal Design and Smart Living offering a full range of solutions to people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, complex needs and behaviour which challenges within a supported living environment as well as Extra Care housing. ATEL works with a range of partners to develop and expedite a "unique" model for supported living and Extra Care through the use and concept of blending universal design with smart living. Universal Smart Living is a new unique approach and concept to support people with varying support needs. It uses integrated Smart Living (Technology Enabled Care) blended with a unique Universal Design So how is universal design helping to deliver a new model of care which is more cost effective than traditional provision and ensures vulnerable adults are given the same life choices as others? ATEL has been commissioned by a number of Local Authorities to scope and design a number of pilots. The pilots will test and be used as "proof of concept" to support and shape new models of care within the UK's Health and Social Care sector. The projects will initially focus on a number of new builds. The developments are supported living for adults with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, behaviour that challenges aswell as extra care housing. This sites have been chosen as they are new builds that have been constructed with the Universal Smart Living concept. This makes it perfect to test a "proof of concept" to support commissioners in the development of new models of care within the supported living and extra care sectors.
