ADAC/ACTA is a registered Canadian non-profit organization. Our National Board of Directors consists of a blend of clinicians and consumers. Our Scientific Advisory Committee consists of many prominent Canadian experts in the field of Anxiety Disorders. As well, our Consumer Advisory Committee consists of Canadian consumers and/or consumer family members who advise the ADAC/ACTA Board of Directors on the issues related to living with anxiety disorders.OUR MISSIONOur mission is to promote the prevention, treatment and management of anxiety disorders and to improve the lives of people who suffer from them.Our objectives are to: Encourage research to expand our understanding of the causes of anxiety disorders; Advocate for improved access to treatment and support for those who are experiencing significant distress and disability due to anxiety disorders; Promote the role of consumers in making informed choices among empirically validated treatments; Encourage and support consumer and family involvement in self-help, mutual support, educational and advocacy activities; Improve the education resources available to consumers, health service providers, and policy makers; Encourage the development of effective approaches to the prevention of anxiety disorders; Promote the sharing of expertise and resources across Canada and internationally.
