The Alice Ferguson Foundation (AFF) was established in 1954 as a non-profit organization chartered in the state of Maryland. AFF's mission is to connect people to the natural world, sustainable agricultural practices, and the cultural heritage of their local watershed through education, stewardship, and advocacy. We share the wonder and excitement of the Potomac River, a working farm, woods, and wetlands each year through experiential hands-on learning with more than 6,000 students from the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. The Alice Ferguson Foundation accomplishes this through three program areas:The Hard Bargain Farm Environmental Center programs facilitate rich outdoor-based experiences for appreciation, awareness and lifelong stewardship of our natural environment. The Bridging the Watershed program, in partnership with the National Park Service, provides personally meaningful, educational experiences that connect high school students to their place in the natural and cultural world. The Trash Free Potomac Watershed Initiative, AFF-seeks to address the trash problem from a watershed-wide approach that will benefit the entire region.
