In 1964, Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University) became the first post-secondary general education institution to launch a nursing diploma program. Officially renamed in 2008, the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing (DCSN) at Toronto Metropolitan University is currently home to over 2000 undergraduate and graduate Nursing students. As one of Canada's largest Nursing schools, the DCSN serves as a dynamic space to promote socially-responsive and evidence-informed Nursing. In accordance with its mission, graduates of the DCSN are prepared to provide high quality care to future generations and address global health needs. The DCSN offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The Collaborative Nursing Degree Program (BScN), is an undergraduate program offered in partnership with George Brown College and Centennial College. The Post-Diploma Degree Completion in Nursing Program (BScN) is an undergraduate program offered to licensed practical nurses, registered nurses with associate degrees, and internationally educated nurses. The graduate programs include the Master of Nursing (MN) course stream, the Master of Nursing (MN) Thesis Steam, the Combined Master of Nursing/Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate (MN/PHCNP) and the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate (PHCNP).
