Sparks Within Reach is a volunteer-powered 501(c)(3) nonprofit bringing free one-on-one tutoring, academic mentoring, and supplementary education to children living in homeless shelters, temporary housing, motels, group homes, and on the streets of New York City.Our network matches remote and in-person volunteer instructors with K-12 children experiencing homelessness in NYC, a population of over 114,000 students that is currently not being supported by any existing educational organizations.Our rigorous instructor training program ensures that each instructor is equipped to help with behavioral management and emotional trauma, which, paired with our proprietary engagement-focused curricula, provide the most effective learning experience for our students.The Sparks Within Reach mission is to bring consistent positivity and stability to our students' lives in order to inspire them to embark on a clear path to enrolling at a 4-year university.
