Established in 1881, Meiji University is one of Japan’s premier educational institutions. Since its inception over 130 years ago, Meiji University has stayed true to its founding principles of individual rights, liberty, independence and self-government, and has sent more than 500,000 graduates out into the world, including two former prime ministers. With the largest number of applicants among all of Japan’s universities and colleges for the last four years, currently more than 32,000 students, including more than 1,200 from overseas, study at the 10 undergraduate schools, 11 graduate schools, 3 professional graduate schools, and Law School at Meiji’s four campuses in the greater Tokyo area.
