A WORK OF HOPE AND FRIENDSHIP IN NEW YORK CITYWe are a street mission of hope and friendship for beggars, street vendors, storekeepers, and commuters. We are one desire of fulfillment. We are sojourners with one destination, beggars for meaning, co-responsible for a more human co-existence. We live in one city where the rich and the poor need each other as constant reminders that we were made by the same hand, and that only through a human presence is it possible to discover the true answer to the needs of the heart. It's not "us" and "them"; it's just us, "that we may all be one," as it is with the One who created us.We strive to meet the needs of beggars and commuters in our ordinary life on the street. It all begins by acknowledging who we are, where we are. Anyone who is attentive and sensitive to others' needs can be part of this mission, and become an occasional or intentionally dedicated One City missionary. We seek to connect the dots in answering, in a gratuitous and personal way, the material needs of each individual, sharing personal gifts, professional skills, hospitality, and occasional support. Both old and young, children and adults have something special to contribute to the One City network of solidarity.
