Pathways Coordinator at Melbourne Indigenous Transition School - Burnley, Victoria, AU
The Melbourne Indigenous Transition School is a residential transition school for Indigenous students from remote Top End and regional Victorian communities.Each year, 22 Indigenous boys and girls (around Year Seven age) come to live at the MITS campus in the Vaucluse, Richmond. Each day they to go school inside the Richmond Football Club, where they study an intensive curriculum focussed on numeracy and literacy. MITS provides a warm home-style environment that celebrates culture and understands the challenges of transitioning from remote community to big city. At the end of their MITS year, our students move into scholarship positions at Melbourne Partner Schools. Once they have left MITS, students continue to be supported by our Pathways Program.MITS values respect, courage, culture and care.
