The Downtown Hays Development Corporation (DHDC) is publicly and privately funded non-profit corporation in Hays, Kansas. It is made up of 13 volunteer Board Members that work continuously with the Executive Director, Executive's Assistant, Fort Hays State University interns and dedicated working committees consisting of community volunteers and local businessmen and women, as well as Downtown property developers for the revitalization effort. DHDC is the binding force and catalyst for organizations impacting Downtown Hays. Our financially solvent organization will strive to fairly represent Downtown Hays' stakeholders through open communication and thoughtful strategic planning. When appropriate, our organization will ensure the success of Downtown Hays and the Chestnut Street District is recognized, communicated and celebrated. The mission of the DHDC is to foster awareness and promote Downtown Hays as a vibrant center of commerce, recreation, arts, government and history that serves the people of Hays, the surrounding region and visitors from around the world. The DHDC will work to prevent the deterioration and enhance the viability of the community's cultural centers, historical landmarks and public infrastructure important to the community's economic and cultural well-being.
