The International School of Charlottesville offers the best in early childhood education within a foreign language environment. At the ISC, the new language is not introduced as a separate subject but is an intrinsic part of the daily experience. Our experienced teachers communicate with the children predominantly in the target language. As the children learn and play in this environment, the target language gradually becomes their preferred means of communication at school. The International School of Charlottesville became accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in 2005. In 2011, the school underwent an all-encompassing reaccreditation process based on NAEYC's updated guidelines and standards. The school is currently accredited by NAEYC through 2016, and is one of only a handful of schools in the region to receive this distinction. NAEYC accreditation is not related to language immersion, but rather the leading organization for promoting excellence in the education of and care for young students, regardless of the language of instruction.
